Children's Services |
Welcome to the wide world of The Planning Council Children's Services programs! We appreciate your interest and hope the information you find here is helpful and suits your needs.
The largest business we have relates to Children's Services…we train child care providers, we help parents locate quality child care through the Child Care Answer Line, we assist families with their child care expenses through the Child Care Fee System, we help employers with their work/family initiatives through the Corporate Resource and Referral services, and we advocate and support safe, affordable and quality care for all children.
The Planning Council, contracted by Virginia Department of Social Services, administers the Voluntary Registration Program for Family Day Homes. As this program offers opportunities for family childcare providers, it helps increase the capacity and quality of childcare in our communities.
Children's Services is also the administrator of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to reimburse providers for nutritious meals they serve to children in their care. In addition, The Council participates in local and national initiatives related to child health, obesity prevention, and good nutrition.

The Planning Council is an advocate for local, state and national childcare initiatives that benefit our youngest population. Please check all our links to see how we can help you with your child services needs.
