Greater Virginia Peninsula Task Force on Homelessness

Helping agencies and communities to research, develop and evaluate human service programs and performance

Since 1941 , the Planning and Development services offered by The Planning Council have given community groups and agencies the tools they need to convene community groups, bring new programs on line or evaluate and improve existing plans and programs.
The Planning Council provides expertise and assistance with:

Claudia Gooch, VP Community Planning and Development
  • community needs and capacity assessment
  • demographic analysis
  • coalition building
  • community problem solving
  • strategic and long-range planning
  • developing outcomes measures
  • grant-writing and grant research

Services offered by Planning and Development include training, consultation, technical assistance, product development, analysis and demonstration.

Services are customized to meet the needs of public and private, for-profit and not-for-profit clients.

When asked about human services, most people think of programs to feed the hungry, house the homeless or provide health care to the indigent. What most people do not envision, however, is the amount of research, assessment and organizational planning that goes into the development and delivery of human service programs. The Council can help professionals do this important work more effectively.
