About the program:
Provides a supplemental food, nutrition education and breastfeeding support program administered by the Health Department to help pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants and children up to 5 years of age get some of the foods and information they need for good health. Vouchers valid only for the purchase of specific foods are issued along with nutrition information. The foods provided include milk, cheese, juice, eggs, peanut butter, dried beans and cereal. Infants who are not totally breastfed receive part of the formula they will need monthly, with cereal and juice given at 6 months of age. Clients are referred to Social Services and to other appropriate community resources, as needed and nutrition education and breastfeeding education and support are offered. HOURS CONTINUED: Walk-in and scheduled appointments are available. Accomodations are made for disabled applicants.
