About the program:
Provides assistance for transportation funding for medical trips to Norfolk or Richmond, emergency financial and clothing assistance, and aids stranded migrants or transients. Tolls and gas expenses for these trips may be paid, but transportation itself is not available. This assistance is also provided for stranded transients and migrant workers. In addition to financial and clothing assistance for emergencies, the service unit donates Christmas packages to local nursing homes and to the Accomack County Health department for Distribution. Gift packs are provided for those entering the Armed Forces, as well as for patients in Northampton-Accomack Hospital in Nassawaddox. Gift packs, including writing materials, are provided to prisoners in jail.
