About the program:
Reviews rate applications filed by investor-owned utilities and member-owned cooperatives and prepares testimony for rate cases before the Commission. The division monitors utility construction projects and reviews applications for construction of transmission lines exceeding 150 kilovolts, electric generating units exceeding 100 megawatts, and natural gas pipelines. It monitors generating unit performance of investor-owned electric utilities. The division also administers the gas pipeline safety program including approximatley 900 master-metered systems, and intrastate hazardous liquid pipelines and enforces the "Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act"; investigates gas accidents and prepares incident reports. The division also responds to consumer complaints regarding electric, gas, and water and sewer utilities under the SCC's jurisdiction.
