About the program:
Provides a medical facility staffed by competent personnel for the purpose of helping women deal with the problems of unwanted pregnancy, including therapeutic abortion.
ELIGIBILITY: Unwanted pregnancies and the need for family planning. Pregnancy termination provided up to 12th week of pregnancy from onset of last mentrual period.
FEES: All clinical services, including lab wok, counseling, physicians' charges, medications - including Rhogam for patients with RH negative blood factor, and follw-up
examination a month later are included at the cost of $275. Pap smear $20; Diaphragm fitting $40 for those currently carried as patients. Private patent fee $35. Pregnancy
testing is $6.
SERVICES PROVIDED: The center is a medical facility staffed by competent personnel for the purpose of helping women deal with the problems of unwanted pregnancy, including
therapeutic abortion. The center offers all clinical services, counseling, and medicaitons, as well as a follow-up examination. This follow-up is 3 to 6 weeks after
termination of the pregnancy. However, the patient may prefer to have her personal physician do this examination. At the patient's request, the center will forward to her
physician a medical report of the care and services she received. Patients who need late D&C (13th to 22nd week) abortions are referred to the Medical Director for the
procedure at the Medical College of Virginia. Fees are paid and counseling is done at the Peninsual Center.
