About the program:
Provides a sub-unit of the office of the City Manager providing the citizens of Newport News wastewater maintenance and repairs; stormwater management; and mosquito control. SERVICES PROVIDED: The Newport News Mosquito Control operates two year round programs to control mosquitos--larvaciding and drainage. The Larvaciding Program is carried out by trucks, laborers, and foremen who spray stagnant waters with vectobat and use of abate blocks, which suffocates the mosquito larvae. The last program is drainage and the elimination of standing water, which is done year round.
