About the program:
Provides law enforcement, detention, crime, and delinquency prevention. Court security and civil process are also provided. SERVICES PROVIDED: Emergency ambulance service is offered to the Northampton County Sheriff's office by the Northampton and Cape Charles County Rescue squads and also by the Exmore Volunteer Fireman's Association. For non-emergency situations, the Sheriff's office provides its own transportation system. Detention of law violators and alleged law violators. Males are served. Agency has no accommodations for women. OTHER COMMENTS: This office does not have a holding cell for juveniles provided the judge orders such. Otherwise, juveniles are taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Norfolk, Virginia. This office transports juveniles to Accomack County jail provided the judge orders such.
