About the program:
Provides non-profit fire and rescue company comprised of volunteers with daytime paid staff. SERVICES PROVIDED: Emergency services including fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Onancock Fire Department holds an annual carnival, which is owned and operated by the department, in order to raise money. Both the firefighters and rescue personnel have special training programs to attend. Firefighters attend VDFP firefighter and fire officer certified training programs. Two Virginia state sponsored regional schools are held annually. Additional "in-station" Virginia state sponsored schools are held as needed. The ambulance training program consists of VDH emergency medical technician instruction, basic and intermediate, and other "in-station" training sessions.
