About the program:
Provides a residential training center which serves mentally retarded, severely/profoundly handicapped and learning disabled children, including individuals with Down's Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and a broad spectrum of other similar conditions. Children must be ambulatory. ELIGIBILITY: Trainable retarded children witha n IQ of 25 to 55 will be admitted. Educable children with an IQ of 70 or below may be accepted. Individuals who hare ambulatory and are mongoloid, cerebral palsied, brain damaged, or who have physical handicaps are accepted. However, those who must be under constant medical care are not accepted. Those who are emotionally disturbed to the extent that they impair the welfare of the other children also will not be accepted. Age Served: Children may be admitted from the time they are able to walk alone, until they reach 15 years of age. FEES: Basic fee is $510 plus SSI per month. This fee includes room and board, routine medical care, and training. There are additional expenses involved in prescription drugs or dental work, transportation and such extras. REFERRAL POLICY: Waiting list to receive services is about 1 month to 2 years. A medical history shall be completed by a physician. An interview with the parent or guardian is required. After all the required documents have been reviewed, the parent or guardian will be notified as to whether the child has been accepted for admission or has been placed on the waiting list. When the child is admitted, parents must sign a written consent agreement and pay the first month's fee. SERVICES PROVIDED: This agency provides a training program consisting of self-care, physical, social, academic, vocational, spiritual, arts and crafts and speech therapy.
