The applicants must have no physical or behavioral disabilities which would prevent them from participating fully as members of a village community, but who at time of admission are unable to live independently. An admissions committee determines eligibility. FEES: Tuition charges as of 1-1-95, is $1150/month. Scholarships are available. REFERRAL POLICY: Applicant must submit past medical, psychological and educational records, current medical status report. Interviews with parents or guardians will be scheduled, an evaluation visit of a week or more to the village will be arranged, and any special examinations done as deemed necessary. Contractual commitment to meet financial obligations for residency must be made. There is a waiting list at this time that extends from two to four years depending upon available space. SERVICES PROVIDED: The goal of Innisfree Village is to help the developmentally disabled residents achieve their maximum potential concerning education and life skill capabilities. Volunteers see that individual needs and requirements are met on an individual basis. Physical well being is assured by regular medical and dental examinations. Programs of individual health care and self-help habits are initiated. Therapeutic programs are available through University of Virginia Schools of Medicine and Psychiatry, Blue Ridge Mental Health and David C. Wilson Neuropsychological Hospital. Individual counseling demands are met by the director and members of the progessional and advisory committee as needs arise. Informatl educational activities are available to those able to benefit from special educational programs. However, Innisfree is not a school. Vocational Training is provided in wood-working, weaver, baking and agricultural skills, as dairy and beef herd care, poultry raising, garden and orchards husbandry. Innisfree Village offers enriching and dignified labor and life in a serene setting-a fellowship of community living. SERVICE CAPACITY: Innisfree Village presently has about 50 residents, approximately 38 of whom are developmentally disabled and about half that number of volunteers in residence, singly or with their families. OTHER COMMENTS: Two homes have been opened in Charlottesville, housing 4 staff members and 4 coworkers, who have reached sufficient independence to become employable. Three of the coworkers are currently employed.
