MEETING INFORMATION: Meetings are held at Gus and George Restaurant on Virginia Beach Boulevard at 11:30AM on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
SERVICES PROVIDED: This Council was formulated so as to promote the safety of citizens in everyday living. Persons served include every citizen. A representative from every
organized body and civic group in Virginia Beach is encouraged to join. Some of the projects that have been undertaken include the establishment of the Lynnhaven inlet water
safety patrol, the "read the label program", program on the hazards of toys and christmas decorations, and a bicycle safety program also, persuading police and city council to
increase police patrol in city waterways, investigating and providing input to planning commission and city council deliberations regarding changes to streets and highways as
well as other decisions regarding safety of citizens, established safety billboards along city highways, developed safety promotion programs on local TV and radio, sponsored
youth safety programs, particularly the 1st High School Youth Safety Council in Tidewater - Cox High School, sponsored attendance of Cox High Youth Safety Council members at
State Highway Youth Safety Conference, and an alcohol testing program. Driver Improvement Clinic is held 1st Saturday of each month. Driving Instruction - 8 hour class,
8:00M-4:00PM, $55.00 FEE, 459-3463.
