About the program:
Acts as the administrative office of the Portsmouth Area Resources Coalition which serves the community by helping people meet basic human needs and providing the opportunity for self-sufficiency. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The services of this organization include: (1) PARC Place Shelter for Homeless Families provides short-term residential stay offering families a new start at a time of crisis due to eviction, fire, etc. Families must have been residents of Portsmouth for at least 6 months prior to homelessness. Referrals are accepted from the city of Chesapeake on space available basis. This facility operates 24 hours a day. (2) Emergency Assistance Office provides rent and utility assistance for those facing eviction or utility cut-off. Weekend Feeding Program served by PARC member organizations. Food referral system and vouchers. Clearinghouse for local agencies' records. Office is open 10AM-4PM, Mon-Fri. (757)397-5208. (3) Supportive Family Living Program/Transitional Housing.
