About the program:
Provides comprehensive services for pre-school children from low-income families in the following areas: Social Services, Health, Mental Health/Disabilities, Nutrition, Transportation, Education and Parent Involvement. SERVES: 3 and 4 year old children in Newport News; only serves 4 year olds in Hampton. Has 1 Wrap Around Daycare class in Newport News and; 2 Wrap Around Daycare classes in Hampton; operational hours for these classes are 7:30 am to 4:00pm, Mon-Fri. All other classes operate on a part day basis either 5.5 hours a day. ELIGIBILITY: Parent/guardian permission; Federal Poverty Index Guidelines and below. INTAKE: Immunization record; child's Social Security card; parent's most recent W-2 form or check stub; names and phone numbers of two or more emergency persons. FUNDING: Federally funded program through the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, under the Office of Human Development Services, Administration for Children and Families. Four classes in Hampton are funded through the Virginia Department of Education.
