About the program:
Provides education to help students become competent in the fundamental academic skills they will need to deal successfully with their environment. The Suffolk Public School
are devoted to instilling the value of lifelong learning, to producing responsible citizens, and to graduating quality workers.
Homebound-there is a program for students who temporarily cannot attend school for some specified reason, adult education, offers an adult basic programs through which a
person may prepare himself to take the G. E. D. Test, and a general program, whose course offerings are dependent on public demand.
TUITION GRANT PROGRAM: Medical diagnosis served for tuition grant service is restricted to mentally and physically handicapped method of referral for tuition grant in order for
a child to qualify, his case must be reviewed by the Special Education Placement Board, who makes the decision that due to his physical or Mental Condition, educational
services cannot be offered within the school system. Tuition assistance for private schooling would then be granted.
ELIGIBILITY: A person under 18 years of age must have been out of school at least 1 year in order to enroll. Special Education eligibility is based on a psychological
evaluation, medical data and a battery of tests. Eligibility Committee makes the final decision.
PRE-SCHOOL SCREENING CLINIC: The child development program is a free service offered by the Suffolk School System to correct handicaps and difficulties in younger children
before they enter school.
MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS REQUIREMENTS: The program serves those with defects in vision, hearing, nutrition, coordination, and others which may affect the child's performance in
school.
