About the program:
Provides and conducts multiple screenings of children throughout the year to detect handicapping or potentially handicapping conditions. Provides skilled care, including medication administration, to students in Norfolk Public Schools as well as temporary care and first aid to ill and injured students. Counseling, referral follow-up are provided for pupils, parents and school personnel when indicated to improve the health and educational process. Nurses make home visits to teach health care, admit and/or follow-up high risk, pre and post-natal patients, high risk infants, pre-school and school age children, chronically ill, and other patients for teaching and counseling, referral, treatment, and rehabilitative services.
