About the program:
Offers a community living program for mentally retarded individuals providing independent living situations for 35 clients. The primary objective is to prevent institutionalization and promote deinstitutionalization by providing residential alternative. Provides a supportive environment in which the mentally retarded individual can develop independent living skills, achieve personal and social growth, and participate as fully as possible in the activities of the community. The staff provides individual instruction and guidance in the areas of self-help skills, behavioral management, community survival skills, home management, social and interpersonal interactions, sex education, community resource utilization, and constructive use of leisure time. Provides counseling and utilizes generic resources to promote social adjustment training, maintenance of health, and maintenance of independent living situations.
