About the program:
Assesses the value of all real property excluding public utilities in the City of Norfolk for tax purposes only. Appointed by City Council and reports annually to the City Council. The City Council adopts tax rates. The office notifies the taxpayer of any changes regarding assessment figures. All new improvements are assessed quarterly. The office maintains, on a daily basis, assessment maps, and records which are readily available to the public.
