ELIGIBILITY: Parental consent is required, if patient is under 15. The abortion is performed in both the first trimester of pregnancy- before 14 weeks from the date of the
last normal menstrual period or before 12 weeks gestation size- and mid-trimester- 14 weeks from last mentrual period or 12 weeks gestation through 18 weeks from last menstrual
period or 15 weeks gestation. In the D.C., any woman may request a therapeutic abortion without the consent of parents, guardians, or spouses. There is no age requirement for
an abortion procedure or for contraceptive methods. Out-of-town patients are requested to have their pregnancy confirmed by a test or physical examination prior to scheduling
an appointment.

Fee covers the abortion, a rhogam (if necessary), counseling and a 2-week post-op exam. A $30 cancellation fee may be charged if the physician decides that the abortion cannot
be performed. A sonogram fee of $60 is charged when deened necessary by a physician when patient is beyond gestation size and is cancelled. There is a $20 fee for antibiotics
injection. Fees for tubal ligation are available on request several insurance policies including Blue Cross/Blue Shield cover the surgery.

in preparing forms for patients who qualify for reimbursement. Patients are required to bring identification and policy information.
REFERRAL POLICY: The average length of time that one has to wait for the appointment is one day. If insurance or Medicaid is used, ID card is needed for verification.
SERVICES PROVIDED: Founded in 1971, Hillcrest Clinic and Counseling Service is one of the first pregnancy termination centers to be established in the Washington, D.C. area.
From the outset, Hillcrest has had three main objectives-- First, to provide an outpatient clinic with medical, nursing, counseling, laboratory and administrative personnel
specialized in assisting patients with the problem of unplanned pregnancies in an atmsophere of understanding, respect and strict confidentiality. Second, to provide pregnancy
termination services at a cost that women in the community can reasonable afford. Third, a commitment to provide educational outreach programs for the enrichment of the
community.
ABORTION SERVICES- Therapeutic abortions are performed by experienced board certified or board eligible gynecologists who have priviliges at various major Washington Hosptials.
Pregnancy terminations are performed using the vacuum uterine aspiration method. General anesthesia is now available for abortions. In addition tubal ligatium, D&C and other
forms of exploriton surgery is performed. Each patient will have a session with a counselor to discuss her decision, the alternatives to abortion, the procedure, follow-up
care, and contraception.
LABORATORY WORK- Laboratory work includes hemoglobin, hematocrit, blood type and Rh, serology, and urinalysis. Any additional tests including gonorrhea cultures and pap smears
are performed as indicated.
PREGNANCY TESTING- Pregnancy testing and pelvic examinations for diagnosis of pregnancy are done by appointment at a charge of $40.00. Breast examinations are also done.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES- A speaker's bureau, audio-visual programs, a resource library, and workshops that address the human reproductive and sexuality spectrum, are available
upon request at no charge.
