About the program:
Provides comprehensive care to adult and pediatric trauma victims. The Trauma program provides emergent, acute, stabilization, and rehabilitative care for persons suffering trauma and burn injuries. SERVICES PROVIDED: Specialized services for this trauma population are provided by these listed individuals and departments: medical staff; nursing; emergency department; blood bank/laboratory; radiology; operating room; nutrition; rehab services; pharmacy; social work/discharge planning; and chaplaincy. This is not an exhaustive list. Resources of the Sentara system are available as needed to provide appropriate care to our patients. The Trauma program provides injury prevention and trauma awareness to the public through public service announcements and educational program. Education for health care providers delivering trauma care is presented to employees and community professionals in the form of workshops, inservices and an annual trauma symposium. Additionally, trauma team members are available to present programs to prehospital careproviders, hospitals, and professional organizations on issues related to careing for trauma patient.
