About the program:
Provides a Methodist church, Sunday School, Bible Study, and Outreach Ministries. Outreach Ministries consist of the following:
The Homework Club-Tutors from several churches and local universities who meet with the children to tutor in math and reading. Meets at the church on Tuesdays and Thursdays
during the school year.
Project Light-A Bible based literacy program that teaches reading and language skills through the use of CD's and computers. The learning center is being used to train groups
to use this literacy program in their local communities.
Urban Discovery Ministries-A learning center to help residents in Park Place get their GED certificates, and addresses problems such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and
school dropouts. Also conducts weekly Bible classes and has established an inner city congregation and Sunday School which meets weekly.
Norfolk Christian Schools-Aid children at least two years behind in school. The students will have educational therapy, group instruction, and home sessions.
Baby Steps-Provide services to the elderly, homebound, disabled and families in need of supportive services focusing on the poor working, who fall through the cracks.
