About the program:
Coordinates all women's health education for all parts of the Sentara System. Topics range from general women's health issues, to prenatal topics, to midlife transitions counseling, to menopause, and much more. Breastfeeding information by certified lactation consultants, and a full range of breast products is also available. Other services include monthly mobile mammography, Speakers Bureau, and connecting health care professionals with local business and community organizations. Ongoing classes for the expecting include pregnancy, prepared childbirth, CPR, and even special classes for grandparents and siblings are offered. Support groups for menopause, endometriosis, and bereavement meet on a regular basis so women who have similar concerns and challenges can share with one another. The health and wellness library offers magazines, books and literature on numerous health issues to check out. An extensive video library featuring a variety of tapes on women's health issues is available.
