About the program:
Provides a regional initiative to help all children in Hampton Roads enter school healthy and ready to succeed, thereby providing the region with a competitive workforce.
Program reports on the status of healthy births and school readiness in the area and promotes research- based best practices in the key areas of parent education and support,
children's health, quality preschool and child care, and family friendly business practices.
AREA SERVED: Portsmouth, Smithfield, Southampton County, Suffolk, Surry County, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and York County.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funded by the Hampton Roads Partnership, an economic development coalition comprised of the 17 cities and counties in southeastern Virginia with the chief
elected officials from all 17 communities in addition to business, education, military, labor and civic league representation.
The Hampton Roads Health Coalition, an 80 member employer-based health coalition, serves as grant administrator for Square One.
