About the program:
Provides services to individuals that will improve their lives by providing a range of job-related services that will enable homeless individuals and families to move toward independence and self-sufficiency. The activities of the Center will be coordinated in an effort to enhance and avoid duplication of other community service efforts. Services include literacy education, pre-GED/GED classes, job skills training/placement, individual career planning/counseling, computer skills training, access employment opportunities, supportive services, access to mainstream progress, screening and referral assessments, housing assistance, and mentoring. AGENCY CHARACTERISTICS: Agency is in partnership with HUD, the City of Portsmouth, the Center for Community Development, Inc., the Portsmouth Self-Sufficiency Project and several city- wide agencies.
